FIFA offers video highlights in International Sign of World Cup matches
Football or soccer: no matter what you call it, every four years global madness erupts over what many fans refer to as “the beautiful game” when the World Cup Championship rolls around. This year’s edition, hosted by South Africa, has already yielded two words that have surged in their daily use: Jabulani, the brand name of the official and specially designed tournament ball (which – according to some – displays a somewhat unpredictable behavior) and vuvuzela, the popular and colorful plastic trumpet with its loud sound producing a characteristic monotonous noise when it is “played” by the thousands of spectators present in the stadiums (resulting in a drone which in turn gives broadcasters and some TV spectators a headache).
Speaking of broadcasting and sound: that takes us to the heart of this article. It is quite remarkable that FIFA, the organization responsible for the Word Cup events, this year also provides video highlights in International Sign of the world championship matches, on its website. As FIFA states in its announcement page: Read the rest of this entry »

Northwestern College offers Spanish translation and interpreting major
Beginning next fall, the Northwestern College will offer a new major in Spanish translation and interpretation. The program is designed for bilingual high school graduates who desire to earn a bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts setting and work in the burgeoning fields of translation and interpretation.
The program seeks to help meet a growing demand—locally, statewide, nationally and globally—for translators and interpreters and includes six new courses, one of which is a senior-year practicum in which students will serve as professional interpreters and translators. The program consists of 35 credit hours in Spanish, translation and interpretation; an additional 14 hours of cognate requirements such as courses in public speaking, linguistics and the law; and classes in a variety of disciplines to meet Northwestern’s general education requirement. The NITA Online webcast channel is powered by Livestream
Looking back, we can now unambiguously announce an accomplished fact: the live webcast of our Spring 2010 Quarterly Symposium has been a complete success! At NITA were a bit nervous about committing to our very first live and integral webcast of a Quarterly Symposium. There’s so much that can go wrong if not all the necessary pieces of the puzzle are in place that frankly, that is the reason why we didn’t give it too much publicity prior to the event. We wanted to make 100% certain that it’s doable, before putting it out there for the entire world to see!
Thanks to the wonderful people at the University of Nevada, Reno, the gracious sponsorship of the Northern Nevada International Center, and of course the Livestream webcasting service, we are now 100% certain that it’s technically feasible, and that it works! If you want proof positive, you can look at the on-demand video of the entire event, which was accompanied by a live chat, so as to also and specifically include others in the event, who either circumstantially couldn’t, or due to the larger distance, cannot be physically present at our Quarterly Symposium. 4th Vendor Management Seminar in Las Vegas, NV
IMTT and MasterWord Services join forces, and resources, to bring the 4th Vendor Management Seminar, which will take place on July 23 and 24, 2010 at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas to all vendor managers around the world.
