NITA Elections for the Board of Directors: Electronic Ballot Open for Voting Now

Elections for the NITA Board of Directors

As mandated by the Bylaws of the Nevada Interpreters and Translators Association, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 will also serve as Election Day for the NITA Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is elected in alternating terms, each position serving a term of two years, so that in one year the President and Vice President plus up to three Directors are elected, and in the next year the Secretary and Treasurer plus the remaining Directors (for a total of up to four Directors that can serve in the Board).

For the term 2010-2012, elections are held for the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and up to three Directors. NITA is pleased to present our membership the eligibility of five Candidates available for these positions: Eloisa Glady Paulino (Candidate for Secretary), Sandra Rentas (Candidate for Treasurer), Rose Carter (Candidate for Director), Maria Davis (Candidate for Director), and Dr. Alvaro Vergara-Mery (Candidate for Director). These Candidates were nominated by the Nomination Committee upon receiving their formal statements of candidacy.

And now, the final word and vote is up to you, our Membership!

In order to make participation in these elections as easy and accessible as possible, and instead of using paper ballots during the AGM itself, we are introducing this year a method of advanced (early) electronic voting. To that end, we have set up an electronic ballot, as well as information offered by the Candidates for consideration of our electorate: all our valuable Members. We believe that using electronic votes, we can offer every member, regardless of physical location or time of day, full and equal access to this important process to elect our leadership.

Please take some time to read the Candidate Statements, then move on to the next tab containing the Voting Ballot itself – and vote! The polls are open now! Obviously, you must be a current Member of NITA and logged in as such before you can vote, and you can vote only once per Candidate for an available Position. It’s all explained in much more detail in the text of the Voting Ballot section.

Lastly: please take some time to read the Candidate Statements and vote. Our Association depends on a thriving, active and fully seated Board of Directors, and your participation is key to that end. We, and all language professionals on whose behalf NITA works, count on you!
