NITA Announces New Board of Directors

Click here to join discussion with fellow NITA members of this item in our Forum (log in first to view and participate)(Reno, Nevada, April 20, 2009) The Nevada Interpreters and Translators Association (NITA), announced the results of its first annual board member elections, held on April 4, 2009, in Reno, Nevada. Three board members were elected for two-year terms.
The results of the voting were unanimous and are effective immediately. The organization would like to extend its most heartfelt appreciation to NITA co-founders and board members Álvaro Degives-Más, outgoing president Tracy Young and outgoing membership director Yovanna Estep for the tremendous amount of work they have put into this young organization. They have decided to step down from official roles as board members, but remain active members and volunteers. NITA’s board of directors is currently composed of the following four linguists:
Karen Tkaczyk, Ph.D., President: Karen is a full-time freelance French into English technical translator who specializes in chemistry, its industrial applications, and intellectual property.
Judy Jenner, M.B.A., Vice President: Judy is a Spanish and German translator in Las Vegas, NV, specializing in legal, financial, IT, e-commerce and travel and tourism translations.
Grace Blaylock, Secretary: Grace has many years of translation and interpreting experience. At the present time, Grace is a Registered Nevada Supreme Court Interpreter and also works with the Reno Victims Assistance Center as a courtroom interpreter.
In addition to these three, board member Rossana Bertani-Roach continues in her position as Treasurer, 2008-2010: Rossana is a Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese translator and interpreter specializing in court and conference interpreting.
