CHIA: 2009 Education Conference

Posted by on February 10, 2009

This year’s theme is “Setting the Stage for Success: California Adopts the CHIA Standards,” celebrates the new state requirements that interpreters receive training in the CHIA Standards.  For the first time, CHIA is starting programming on Friday morning, with two-hour workshops being the focus of the first day. This year’s conference will run two full days, with workshops set to begin at 10 a.m. Friday.  On Friday, Stanford Hospital will offer tours of the hospital as well as the Stanford campus.  CHIA will offer its own two-hour training on its Standards in one of the Friday workshops.

Education Units at CHIA Conference: CHIA is pleased to announce that attendees of our conference, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 20-21 in Palo Alto, can receive 10 American Translators Association (ATA) units.  CHIA is also in the process of securing California state court interpreter (CIMCE) units, and is pleased, too, to report the California Court Interpreters Program has joined in as a conference sponsor!
