To mark and celebrate the milestone first anniversary of NITA, the Nevada Interpreters and Translators Association is proud to sponsor and present a unique Professional Development opportunity in Nevada for Health Care Interpreters.

This course is given over a five-week period, during one full day per week (all days are on a Saturday) and is meant to give prospective interpreters with an interest in serving in the medical field a leg up, by introducing and laying out a foundation of necessary skills and knowledge that are essential to become a highly valuable resource for our community. By following this training, those interested in pursuing further specialization as a fully qualified Health Care Interpreter shall also understand the path that lies ahead to become a fully qualified medical interpreter.
Why is health care interpreting different?
Just as with other modalities of professional interpretation, the medical field is rife with highly specialized jargon, an understanding of which is absolutely essential to succeed. This is a fairly obvious reason why specialization and specific training are necessary to succeed in this profession. Unlike other forms of interpretation, however, there are certain other aspects – as e.g. manifested in professionally acceptable conduct – that set the medical / health care interpreter quite apart from other interpreter specializations, like in judicial (court) or education (community) settings. To be fully aware of what makes a medical interpreter a good medical interpreter is therefore essential for success; this training ensures that all participating participants do understand those fundamentals.
Qualified health care interpreters are much in demand!
This training series sets out to introduce the field of medical / health care interpretation to all those interested in entering this fascinating, challenging, but also much needed specialization. That is why this course is tailored to those who already have a practicable level of mastery of both target and source languages. Although it’s not strictly necessary to have experience as an interpreter, it does help, so as to better understand the specific and practical challenges of this rewarding profession. And, of course, to better help you obtain the maximum didactic return on your investment!
Please keep in mind that specialized training sessions like these come by not so often in the state of Nevada, and most certainly not at this highly attractive price level, for a course this challenging and tightly packed with great career boosting material!
Therefore, if you’re already working as an interpreter, and would like to expand into this much-valued specialization: this course is specially for you – register now to benefit from this unique career building opportunity!
