“Tips and Tricks in Word†by Yves Tkaczyk, President of ClearSquare Associates. Yves has 15 years’ experience in the software industry and has worked in fields such as telecom, finance and ecommerce. Yves graduated with honors from ENSAM, a top French engineering school. The majority of Microsoft Word users only use a tiny proportion of its features. This presentation will introduce some of the most common powerful areas that can immediately improve productivity. It will cover formatting through creating and applying styles; reviewing documents by tracking changes; saving to PDF; etc.
“Intercultural Communication†by NITA co-founder Marianne Pripps-Huertas, who is a court-certified interpreter and a long-time translator who has trained in the field of intercultural communications since the 1980’s. Knowledge of a culture is paramount for interpreters and translators. Nonetheless, most ITs are not specifically trained in the intercultural communication field. The presenter will initiate participants in the basics of the discipline. She will also give examples pertaining to interpretation/translation, and will work with participants to begin developing “critical incident†examples that will aid us in dealing with the intercultural clash situations that ITs face every day.
